The Ghost Stalker of the Clock Tower

Have you ever heard about the mysterious boy, who is often seen wandering near the clock tower after dark? And not just wandering, but also following every girl who dares to pass by the clock tower, at that time.
No? Then I’ll tell you his story, because I have seen him- The Ghost Stalker of the Clock Tower.
The story started on a peculiar rainy night. Rainy, wet but enchanting; the kind of night which seldom comes and which not many are able to witness; Lucky are those. A boy stood alone on this night, in a deserted bus stop, just a few metres away from the Clock Tower. It was nearly midnight and everything was so still, that even the ticking of the clock could be clearly heard.
The boy, wearing blue denims and a hoodie jacket, stood as still as a statue, as if waiting patiently for someone. His head was low and his eyes were fixed on the ground. He was so still that it was hard to tell if he was even alive. His face was not at all visible, save a glance of his blood-red lips, under the black hoodie; which covered his face like the Moon covers the Sun, during a complete Solar Eclipse.
There was just one street lamp on the road, which illuminated a small area around the bus stop. Rest was as dark as a black hole. Then a bus came from which a girl got down and stood beside that boy; evidently ready to wait for another bus. After the bus left, there were just two of them, and silence.
The girl was smartly dressed beautiful, round and bright face, low cheekbones which were rather a contrast to her sharp nose. Two dark brown eyes, hidden behind spectacles and a well-defined chin, gave her face quite a pretty look. Tall and slender; she looked confident. A look which concealed the fact that she was so nervous as if all the hell was going to break loose around her. Not only the silence, darkness and the ticking of the clock scared her; but also her companion at that time, who seemed extremely weird.
She decided to avoid him, but found very hard to do so; for it was actually really disturbing- the way he just stood there, so still, with his hands in his pockets and his eyes always fixed on the ground, as if there was nothing in this world which existed but him; though she could not tell clearly, the face being so well-hidden underneath that hoodie.
The girl who was deeply engrossed in her thoughts was suddenly startled out of her wits by the noise of the clock tower’s bell, which signaled that it was exactly midnight. At the same time, two bright head-lights of a bus shone at her from a distance. The bus had arrived just in time for the lady was getting rather cocky.
Relieved that she’ll no longer have to stand along with the odd boy, she boarded the bus and took a window seat. She was rather enjoying the cool wind on her face, when happening to glance around, she spotted the same boy sitting a few seats behind her. Weird, she thought; how could she not see him while he was getting into the bus? Actually, more than weird, she felt suspicious; but told herself at once that it was just a co-incidence and so shook off the bizarre feeling.
The bus was almost empty except the two and a few more. Outside it was dark; smelling fresh of rain, but inside, damp air, dim light and an overpowering smell of diesel filled the bus.
At last, the bus came to a halt and the girl got down at her stop, she had taken just a few steps towards her neighborhood, when she felt as if someone was following her. Looking back, she saw nothing, just darkness. She turned and had just started walking again, when she felt the same way, a sort of instinct. This time, when she looked back; she saw a figure coming towards her- sporting black jacket accompanied by blue denims.
It was at this moment, when the girl got really scared, and started walking as fast as she could, without breaking into a run; in an attempt to avoid the stranger, who was seemingly stalking her. The girl tried to think about the best that could be done in such a situation. She decided to try and get home as soon as possible and call the cops. As she reached near her house, she broke into a run.
Getting inside, she quickly locked the door firmly, and peeped outside through the window, to see if the stalker was still there. But she couldn’t see anything or anyone. She carefully went upto the gate and looked thoroughly- nothing.
There was just darkness; no human figure could be seen, till where her eyesight could reach. It was as silent as a church-yard; but for a dog, who broke the silence by giving a long, endless howl. Nevertheless, there was no danger now. She locked the door again, checked all the windows and then relaxed. She heaved a sigh of relief and turned away from the window, only to face the hooded boy; she gave a loud scream and woke out of her sleep.
She was still in her office and had fallen asleep on her chair as maybe she was too tired. The office was almost empty by now as it was already 11:20 PM. If she didn’t hurry, she’ll miss the bus. While on the bus, she was still thinking about the dream.
The bus came to a halt at the bus stop near the clock tower. As she got down, in the light of the single lamp, she saw a figure which vanished in a flash. She blinked a few times, thinking if it was her imagination. She was clearly remembered of her dream. She stood there, waiting for next bus; she had no other choice.
It was all exactly as she saw in her dream barely an hour ago- except there was no weird companion. She was so engrossed in her thoughts that when the midnight bell of the clock tower rang, she was startled. Just then the much-awaited bus came and she got in. But this time, all she did was to keep an eye on the doors of the bus. She was relieved when she reached home, without being stalked.
She closed the door firmly and turned to switch on the lights. As the light filled the room, her eyes fell on the mirror on the opposite wall and she was horrified to see a ‘black-hoodie guy’ standing just behind her. She quickly turned but saw no one.
Now this was the last straw- either she was getting nuts or something really amiss was going on here. The girl one again checked all the doors and windows, and then decided to sleep on the couch as she was quite scared to go inside alone. She sat down on the couch facing the door, pulled over the blanket on herself and switched on the TV to divert her mind of all those creepy thoughts.
It was nearing to dawn but she had no sign of sleep in her eyes. As she looked at the wall clock, she realized that she had been watching TV for 4 hours. Then suddenly her eyes fell on glass pane of the door and there he was- the same boy standing outside her home. His face covered with black hoodie, was clearly visible through the glass panes of her door. It sent a chill down her spine. She was unable to move or speak anything.
It was 7 in the morning when the girl woke up and found herself on the couch. She quickly went to the door, but didn’t find even a single trace of that black hoodie boy. Somewhat calm, she recalled everything that happened with her the last night, and somehow convinced herself that she was just hallucinating, and that there was nothing serious.
As she walked towards the kitchen, she noticed something strange, very strange. There was water spilled all over the floor behind the couch. She was unable to figure out the possibility of water coming from the washroom till her living room. As she thought more, she became sure of the most horrible possibility. She had been thinking that the black hoodie boy was standing outside her door; but in actual he was standing behind her, the entire night. It was his reflection that she saw on the glass pane of the door.
That day while working in her office, apart from being scared and anxious, the other feeling that she had was of curiosity. She desperately wanted to unfold the truth behind all the incidents that have left her so petrified and perplexed.
As she googled about the clock tower of her city, she found that it had a fascinating history. The Clock Tower was a centre of attraction for the whole town due to its grand and complex structure, until the frightful day, when the fire took away all its glories and a local teenager, who was said to be living in the clock tower itself. His body was never found, but another fire took over the town- the rumour that the boy’s spirit haunted the Clock Tower.
Something was compelling the girl to go the depth of this story. It was at this moment, when to get all the answers, she decided to visit the place from where it all began, the clock tower.
Again it was a rainy night, the same girl alone and the same old and isolated Clock Tower. But this time, she wasn’t afraid as she stepped inside, through the rusted door, which closed behind her.
No one knows what really happened there, that night or how the fire, which again took possession of the Clock Tower, had started. Some locals, who lived nearby, informed the cops that they had seen a girl going inside. A search was initiated for the girl, but all they found was a burnt corpse of a boy.
After some investigation, when nothing could be found, the case file got closed, The Clock Tower was sealed forever and the area surrounding it was declared unsafe. Once again, a tide of rumors hit the town and once again the Ghost Stalker of the Clock Tower became the talk of the town- their own legend.
As for the girl, she was never seen again. She just disappeared, and couldn’t be found even after several attempts. No one could ever find me!
