The increasing family politics in India is not a new topic of talks among the people, but has been since years in the Indian political history. From Pt.Nehru to Rahul Gandhi, Mulayam Singh Yadav to Akhilesh Yadav , the Scindhia family ; the Indian politics is over-flowing with gen-nexts of well-known personalities. But the common man has a question- Is leadership just a game of a family ? And do the children of the great leaders too have the required ability of leading such a wide nation.
Many of them failed , few of them passed ; and the mass suffered. But these Politicians haven’t understood till now that leadership cannot be created. It cannot be inherited from parents, and so its not necessary that the children of the great politicians could also emerge as the same.
Was Mahatma Gandhi a born leader? No; the miserable scenario of the racial discrimination in South Africa and the captive motherland turned him into the “Father of the Nation” ; otherwise his father was a British well-wisher. Then how can these politicians put the future of India at stake, by seizing an opportunity to be a part of development of India, from the more deserving and enthusiastic youth just for their personal interests.
Leadership is not found in the blood of some; but lies in the heart of all. The various attributes requires for a perfect leader – sturdy by both mind and body, punctuality, capability of conducting the mass, farsightedness and the most significant of all is patriotism – have to be acquired, and are not in-born. A leader should have a burning heart of love for his country and its people, and not just a strong political background. He should not worry about the giants of trouble , rather about the people.
A person who has faced the hardships of the common man can only realize them and be a great leader. Mere in visits to the slum areas and villages, any person cannot become a leader. I do not say that the children of leaders cannot be the same; we have example of our former PM, Rajiv Gandhi , who was undoubtedly the pioneer of modern India. But, the Indian politicians have made politics a trend and the family business, which is not correct.
In the end, I would like to depict that leadership cannot be created; but it has to be built – slowly and slowly – brick by brick.
